Monica Gonzales, Assistant Public Defender, joined the Felony Trial Division of the Public Defender’s Office in October 2011. Prior to joining the PDO, Ms. Gonzales was a trial attorney in private practice for over 17 years. Her practice has been primarily in felony criminal indigent defense. She is bilingual and speaks Spanish. Ms. Gonzales is a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association. She has been licensed to practice law since 1993. Ms. Gonzales received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in May of 1993 and her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Policy Studies from Rice University in May of 1990.
